“Maturità 2015”: study meetings on contemporary history
Period: 29 September 2014 - 25 May 2015
The research group of the Italian-German Historical Institute participates in the “Maturità 2015: let’s talk about history” initiative promoted by the Fondazione Trentino Alcide De Gasperi and the Associazione Culturale “Antonio Rosmini”. Consisting of 19 in-depth meetings on contemporary history, the course is open to citizens and students –especially those who will obtain their upper-secondary diplomas in 2015 – who want to review the history of the twentieth century together with researchers and lecturers at the Italian-German Historical Institute - FBK and the University of Trento. At a time of rapid and profound change in a globalized world, mastery of the more recent history of Trentino, Italy and Europe can enhance understanding of the ongoing crisis and current international relations. The capacity to interpret the present ensues from factual knowledge that extends beyond mere erudition and seeks to “know the past, understand the present, and shape the future”. The meetings will be accompanied by supporting texts and media tools in order to deepen the most accredited historical interpretations and to furnish the requisite historical, legal and economic vocabulary.
