The long modernity. The turning points of economic development

Researchers

The research considers the dynamics and connections among some of the more economically developed areas of the Italian peninsula within the continental context of the first centuries of the modern age. The intention is to examine and describe the changes that came about in the balances among economic hierarchies. The project presently concentrates on the activities of certain members of a highly heterogeneous mercantile class native from northern Italy, sometimes organized by a system of transnational family networks, operating in regional and international trade and credit markets of Inner Austria subject to the Hofkammer of Graz and Upper Austria subject to that of Innsbruck between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries.
