Leni Riefenstahl resta un enigma. Dopo aver celebrato il nazismo e messo al servizio del Reich hitleriano il proprio straordinario talento visivo, ha passato la vita a ridimensionare il valore politico e ideologico dei propri capolavori, come Trionfo della volontà (1935) e Olympia (1938). Grazie a un accurato recupero delle interviste rilasciate tra gli anni Settanta e Novanta, Veiel ripercorre la lunga vita della regista, riflettendo sul rapporto tra arte, politica e responsabilità.
