The Italian-German Historical Institute (Isig) was founded on November 3, 1973, by Hubert Jedin and Paolo Prodi on the initiative of the Istituto Trentino di Cultura (ITC). Its aim is the promotion of historical studies with particular regard to the ties between the German and Italian linguistic areas.
