10 GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR PHD STUDENTS AND POST-DOCS TO ATTEND ISIG'S ANNUAL STUDY WEEK

The 65th Study Week organized by the Italian-German Historical Institute of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler, in partnership with Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence, the University of Trento and the DHI in Rom will take place from September 3-5, 2025.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe and the liberation of the occupied European countries from Nazi Fascism, the ISIG LXVI Study Week 2025 will focus on Historians and Civic Engagement from 1945 to the Present Day. The aim is to trace the history of historiography by considering not only the academic output of historians but also their historical, political contexts, and educational backgrounds that have shaped their work.
The study week will be an opportunity to reflect on the role of historians today, on their influence they have in national and international public life, and on the network of intellectual relationships in which they are also integrated outside academic institutions.

The Italian-German Historical Institute offers 10 grants to PhD students and recent postdocs (thesis successfully defended after 1 September 2022) who wish to attend the conference. The conference grants cover travel costs (up to 200 euros) plus catering and accommodation.

General requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent. In order to apply please send a short CV (maximum 500 words) and a letter of motivation (maximum 500 words), by 20 April 2025, to:

Selection criteria: relevance of CV and motivation letter.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of FBK-ISIG researchers. The results of the selection will be communicated by 15 May 2023.
